February 2015 White Black Bird!

This one seems to be surviving and doing ok.  You would think an easy target for predation!

No nice sunlight, just a short trip to the local park today.  Still enjoyable with a few birds coming in close.

February 2015 Snipe great to see these out in the open

The beautifully camouflaged Snipe rarely breaks into the open and poses like this. Privileged to get this view.

February 2015 Red Kite in my own town of Winchcombe Gloucestershire UK

I remember travelling to see my first Red Kite in Mid Wales.  They were very rare then.  Its great that they are now coming to see us birders at home.  Saves a lot of petrol!

February 2015 Short Eared Owls still in the Cotwolds

It's really great to have these Short Eared Owls in the Cotswold Hills not far from where I live.  They winter here from their breeding grounds in Scotland and the northern European Tundra.  Note sure how long they will stay now but they are so welcome.

Lucky to get this one so close. Needed to wait for the head turn!
