This Sparrow hawk was busy plucking an unfortunate bird before it goes to the nest.  The female appears quite aggressive as she comes across to accept it.

A young fox came creeping through the grass tonight.

It seems quite strange to see this bird that you normally see dashing along flat out hunting birds, just gently breaking off twigs to add to the nest.  I know the chicks have already hatched as it is also bringing in food.

June 2016 Early morning start payed off. Male Sparrow Hawk.

One of my very favourite birds the Male Sparrow hawk.  This one after bring in food for its young began breaking off branches to add to the nest.

After seeing many of the Avocet chicks succumb to predation from Gulls it's great to see this Oyster Catcher chick looking strong and almost independent.

I love watching the Fulmars as they effortlessly glide on their stiff wings along the coastline cliffs.

They are keeping a careful eye on this chick who is now a week old.  They need to though with marauding Herring Gulls always present.

Its amazing that in a few moths this crane could be as large as his father.

I love to spend some time watching all the action of a sea bird colony.

June 2016 Common Crane born at Slimbridge WWT showing for the first time today!

I am so willing on the Grade Crane Project which aims to re-introduce a self sustaining population of Cranes to the west of England.  This little youngster was showing for the first time on the 2nd of June.  Good luck to him.
