January 2017 Fly-by Buzzard.

I had a trip to Slimbridge WWT today. Whilst waiting for views of a Bittern that are being regularly reported there I managed to get an image of this buzzard as it glided past the hide.  On the way back I noticed a bird on Slimbridge church.  I stopped the car and as I suspected it was a Peregrine Falcon looking down at me.  I must be getting my eye in as I seem to be seeing these beautiful birds in all sorts of places at the moment.

January 2017 Just love spending time waiting for the Secretive Water Rail

You can really go into a world of your own and it is just so relaxing spending some time watching these secretive birds darting in and out of the reeds.

I don't think I would ever be able to resist capturing a few images when I get lucky enough to get this close to a Buzzard.  I Love these birds and this one stayed totally relaxed with me so close.

January 2017 Waxwing year in the UK

These birds from northern Scandinavia are definitely in the UK in full force.  The berries they favour seem to be running out fast so I guess they will soon move on.

January 2017 The secretive Water Rail

Its always great when the secretive Water Rail breaks cover from the reeds.  You never know how long it is going to be in the open, as the slightest disturbance and it darts into cover.
