It seems hard to believe that Avocets are a relatively recent addition as a Gloucestershire bird at Slimbridge WWT. They seem so reliable now each summer in quite large numbers. At first they seemed to keep a great distance from the hides, and I can remember thinking I hope they come closer so I could get some images. Now they seem to wade right past on a regular basis. I for one love them.
